Taming the Wolf: Resolving the Conflicts Ruining Your Life, written by Greg Stone, is a manual designed to guide the reader through the mediation process from the pre-convening stage to reconciliation. The book is based on the peacemaking tradition of St. Francis of Assisi.

The book is the cornerstone for a broader peacemaking project also titled Taming the Wolf. Spout was commissioned to design and produce a complete branding package that encompasses the present and future goals of the company/project. The response has been exceptional. Readers have remarked how the book cover has visually drawn them in and visitors to the website have appreciated an inviting, user-friendly design.

Web Design & Development

Design requirements included the creation of an inviting visual presentation that captured both the contemporary and historical aspects of the Taming the Wolf project while providing easy access to multiple features and content segments. The original art created for the site was based on the legacy of Franciscan peacemaking.

Additionally, the site includes a subdomain, Pilgrimages, that mirrors and integrates the overall visual presentation while providing a unique appearance and feel.

The front cover, the face of a wolf, was designed to present a either a dangerous or a compassionate impression, depending on the reader’s state of mind. I chose to paint an Arctic wolf to reflect the intense emotions involved in conflict.

The back cover represents the completion of the process and the reconciliation of the parties. For this purpose I chose to paint an image of the wolf walking alongside St. Francis.

Thus the front and back cover design mirror’s the reader’s journey in the book as they progress through the stages of conflict resolution.
